Scan a whole binder in a few minutes

Rapid mode prices about one card per 1.2 seconds. Here is how to set up, what the app does when it hesitates, and how to get a reliable total.

Pricing a hundred cards one by one takes an evening. With CardNugget's rapid mode it takes about two minutes. Here is how to make the most of it.

Before you start

  • Good light, no glare. Daylight or a ceiling light works well; avoid a lamp shining directly on holographic cards.
  • A plain, dark surface. The app finds the card's outline more easily on a contrasting background.
  • Name your collection. When you start a rapid scan, you choose where the cards will be filed: "Attic binder", "Doubles to sell"… Everything lands in the same place.

The rhythm

Hold a card in front of the camera, flat and fully inside the frame. As soon as it is steady, the app reads it, identifies it and shows its price for a brief moment. You are already reaching for the next card. On average a card takes about 1.2 seconds.

No confirmation screen interrupts you: each card is filed as you go. If you made a mistake, one tap undoes the last card.

When the app hesitates

Sometimes the clues read on a card are not enough to be sure — a worn number, a strong reflection. In normal mode, the app would show you candidates to choose from. In rapid mode, it does not stop: it says "not recognised" and moves on. Nothing is filed, nothing is guessed. Put that card aside and scan it later in "one card at a time" mode.

The same goes for prices. If the network is slow, the app does not block your binder: after a second and a half it lets you continue, and the price fills in when it arrives. A card is never filed with a made-up price.

Reading the total

At the end of the session you see the number of cards and an estimated total. Each card keeps its price in the currency of its source; to add them up, the app converts them to euros at a fixed rate built into the app. That is why the total is always presented as an estimate.

To go further, open the collection: sort by price to find your best cards, group by set, or filter duplicates to see what you could trade.
